Nicaragua Olomega

Nicaragua Olomega is a region in Nicaragua known for its high-quality, Strictly High Grown. The name “Olomega” comes from the Chorotega indigenous community’s term “Olomeka,” meaning “carry in one’s arms,” and is associated with a village and petroglyph in Aldea Coffee.

Olomega coffee is typically produced by family-owned farms organized around Asociación Aldea Global (Aldea Global) in Jinotega, Nicaragua.

Aldea Global is a cooperative with over 500 members, including a high percentage of women, and has a focus on gender equality and sustainable practices.   The Olomega name and its association with the Chorotegas are significant, with the petroglyph still visible in Aldea Coffee’s logo.

Aldea Global’s focus on gender equality, small business lending, and healthcare initiatives demonstrates a commitment to social and environmental sustainability.
